Coming to Palestine is a book that offers a unique perspective on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Author Asma Barlas, a Pakistani-American Muslim woman, traveled to Palestine in 2002 and spent several months living in the occupied territories. During her time there, she met with Palestinians from all walks of life, and her experiences led her to a new understanding of the conflict and its impact on the Palestinian people.
Barlas' book is not a political tract. She does not take sides in the conflict, and she does not offer any easy solutions. Instead, she simply tells the stories of the people she met, and she lets their experiences speak for themselves. These stories are often heartbreaking, but they are also inspiring. They show the resilience of the Palestinian people, and their determination to live in peace and dignity.
Coming to Palestine is a powerful and moving book that will challenge your assumptions about the Middle East. It is a book that will make you think more deeply about the human cost of war and occupation, and it is a book that will inspire you to work for peace.
