Ladies and Gentlemen:
I am very grateful for the honor of being invited to address you on this occasion. I am particularly pleased to be here because I believe that the Republican Party is the party of the future. It is the party that represents the best interests of the American people.

The Republican Party was founded in 1854 by a group of anti-slavery activists. The party's platform called for the abolition of slavery, the protection of civil rights, and the promotion of economic opportunity. The Republican Party quickly became a major force in American politics, and it played a key role in the election of Abraham Lincoln in 1860.
Under Lincoln's leadership, the Republican Party led the Union to victory in the Civil War. The war ended slavery and preserved the Union. The Republican Party also played a major role in the Reconstruction Era, which saw the passage of the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments to the Constitution. These amendments abolished slavery, guaranteed equal protection under the law, and gave African Americans the right to vote.
In the years after the Civil War, the Republican Party continued to promote economic growth and opportunity. The party supported the construction of railroads and canals, and it encouraged the development of new industries. The Republican Party also played a major role in the passage of the Homestead Act, which gave millions of Americans the opportunity to own their own land.
In the 20th century, the Republican Party continued to be a force for progress. The party supported the passage of Social Security, Medicare, and the Civil Rights Act. The Republican Party also played a major role in the election of Ronald Reagan in 1980. Reagan's presidency was a time of economic growth and prosperity. He also led the United States to victory in the Cold War.
Today, the Republican Party is still the party of the future. The party believes in limited government, individual liberty, and free markets. The Republican Party is committed to creating a better future for all Americans.
I am confident that the Republican Party will continue to be a major force in American politics for many years to come. The party has a long and proud history, and it is the party that represents the best interests of the American people.
Thank you for inviting me to speak to you today. I am honored to be here.
Sincerely,
Henry Crapo
Governor of Michigan
